The Concise History of Palestine
The history of palestine is rich with story and events of Biblical proportions literally and figurativelly. It was, after all, in the land of milk and honey that the monotheistic tradition was born, and it is here, in the Holy Land, that Ibrahim, the father of all the prophets, is burried.
Despite- and perhaps because of its sacredness to so many, Palestine has been regularly subjected of foreign occupation and invasion and, in the last century, to setller-colonialism. The colonization project that began after the first ZionistCongress in 1897 has seen the expulsion of almost a million of Palestines's indigenous people, replaced in favor of Jewish settlers escaping persecution in Europe. The founding of israel atop the better part of historic Palestine brought with it a concerted effort to minimize the Arab, Islamic, and Christian connections to the country. Among the objectives of this book is to recalibrate the historical record so that Palestine's unfinished story, beginning with the dawn of civilization and populated with personalities representing the country's ethnic and religious traditions can be honored and appreciated.
